Description

Baduanjin has 800 years of history and is a traditional set of Daoyin, it has been practised since the Song Dynasty. In the book, Yi Jin Yi Zhi one reads “During the times of the northern song, there are people who imitate the art of the Daoist alchemists. they stretch the spine like the bear, they stretch their arms and neck like the birds, they rise at midnight and undertake exercises of breathing and massage”. This practice is called Baduanjin. Based on the tradition of this method and combined with certain characteristics of Daoyin, Wushu, Taiji, Chinese traditional medicine and ancient Daoist self-cultivation methods, Professor Zhang Guangde created a new version of Baduanjin.

Simon Watson is the president of the English Dao Yin Yang Sheng Gong Association and is a disciple of Professor Zhang Guangde the founder and creator of the Dao Yin Yang Sheng Gong system.

Simon has been studying and practicing Dao Yin since 1989 and in 2019 was awarded his 7th Duan from Beijing University for Physical Education, for his 31 years commitment and dedication, which he received personally from Professor Zhang.

Simon coached the 2010 winning team at the 10th Health Qigong Competition in Beijing. The team won the gold medal for their performance and along with the English Daoyin founder Richard Watson was delighted when eight of its members attained their 4th Duan qualifications in Dao Yin Yang Sheng Gong.

The English Daoyin Association presently numbers 50 instructors and well in excess of 3,000 students and is committed to the growth of Daoyin Yang Sheng Gong. The seminars will be conducted in a friendly and informal manner and enable both teacher and students to delve deeper into this fascinating subject. It will also allow attendees a chance to make notes and raise queries and questions surrounding topics such as; physical, medical, philosophical and cultural subjects relating to DYYSG.

The seminar will be supplemented with a comprehensive PDF file of the set for all attendees.
