Early days: Professor Li with the British Wushu team who performed at Longfei's inauguration in 1995
This year's meeting recorded the progress made toward the introduction of assessments by the Technical Committee for students who wish to record a level of progress in their study of taijiquan and Daoyin Yangsheng Gong.
As a result of last year's decision (see Issue 2 Vol 8, 2008) the first assessment took place in February 2009. Only one person was assessed as this initial meeting was for the benefit of the examiners. The team of examiners were all afforded the opportunity to take part and between them they brought 271 years of training to the event. In addition Simon has spent many years sitting in with Professor Li Deyin and so have I, making assessments at our summer camp. I have also carried out membership examinations for the BCCMA and the TCUGB. I will recommend that all our examiners take the BCCMA judges course some time in the future. At this meeting Tony Reed was successfully assessed to teach the 24 Simplified Taijiquan, congratulations Tony. Tony has been issued with certification to this effect.
The date above has been set for the next opportunity for those seeking assessments. The fees for assessments are to cover the hire of a venue, the cost of printing certificates and the fee and travelling expense for examiners.
These three levels are progressive requirements for all future Longfei instructors and will begin with a firm recommendation from their own instructor. Assistant teachers, teachers, senior teachers will require instructor insurance from the BCCMA. For those wishing to take assessments please confer with your instructor and he will pass your candidacy to Karen Watson by the 1st September 2009. Further help with criteria will be made available to candidates on the day.

Longfei is proud to announce that we have two new teachers joining our ranks. I would like congratulate both Veronique Conrad and Wendy Hu on passing their teacher assessments.
