London Tai Chi Championship

Our newly elected Director of competition Barry McGinlay has just lead another successful Longfei team to the London Tai Chi Championships. The team included Barry himself, Wayne Starkey and Barry's student Emma North. Between the three athletes they won 12 medals!! Wow.

Barry won five golds:

Gold: fixed step push hands

Gold: restricted step push hands

Silver: moving push hands

Gold: 32 sword

Gold: 24 Yang style

Gold: for overall best sword for all styles

Wayne Starkey

Gold: 24 form

Gold: 42 forms combined Taiji

Gold: 24 form category

Emma North

Bronze: fixed step push hands

Bronze: moving step push hands

Bronze: restricted step push hands

Congratulations to all three of you! Barry is an outstanding athlete, not only having competed in all categories of internal martial arts, but having excelled at them winning many many gold medals in full contact (San Da) semi contact (Qin Da) push hands (Tui Shou) forms both hand and weapon play (Ta Lu). I do not Know of any other athlete in Europe that has achieved such great success. Barry is now running a coaching programme at his gym in North London on some Sundays during the year. Why not come, practice and learn.
