A meeting of teacher members (the Executive) took place on Sunday the 1st June 2008 to discuss the progressive way forward for the development of our association. Important points arising were as follows:
* The forming of two committees to examine and evaluate the level and worthiness of aspiring students who wish to see some measure of their progress recorded and or, students who wish to follow an ambition to become teachers of Taijiquan and Daoyin. The committees will review the course of actions to implement this work and act as steering bodies and report back to the executive on proposals for action. It will not be a strict programme of training but it does propose a strategy to show what our association should aim for.
* A decision was also made to increase membership fees to £10.00. BCCMA membership remains the same at £7.00. The current fee has been in place for some considerable time and has become inadequate to meet the costs of postage, newsletters, internet costs etc. The meeting also felt that an annual increase to membership fees should be put in place in accord with an annual audit of costs. Teacher members' fees will increase by £5.00.
* A further progressive proposition was the raising of a team leader for competitions, to keep the membership informed of all future events both at home and on the international agenda. The development of aspiring competitors and of course a supporters club would be very welcome.
